This Parmesan Garlic Bread Twist recipe is perfect for any occasion! And guaranteed to be a definite crowd pleaser. Pair with a warm marinara or ranch dipping sauce!
Prep time: 30 minutes
Rise time: 1 hour
Bake time: 25 minutes
For the dough:
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour (unbleached preferred)
1 tbsp yeast
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp sugar
2 tsp salt
1 1/2 cups warm water (about 110 degrees)
For the filling:
1 stick unsalted butter, softened
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp minced garlic
1 tsp dry Italian seasoning
3/4 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup ranch dressing
For brushing:
1/2 stick salted butter
1 tsp garlic
1 tbsp grated parmesan
1 tsp dry Italian seasoning
In a mixing bowl, combine water, sugar and yeast. Mix well and cover with a dish towel for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, add the olive oil, salt and flour together.
Mix with a wooden spoon or dough whisk until it forms a shaggy dough. Flour your surface and knead your dough for about 3 minutes. Grease your bowl and place your dough in the bowl. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
15 minutes before your dough is ready, prep the filling and preheat your oven to 400. Combine all your filling mixture together (Expect for the mozzarella cheese. We will add that later). When finished with the filling, put aside.
Take your dough and generously flour your surface. Roll out your dough to about a 12x14” rectangle. Spread your filling mixture all over the surface of your dough evenly.
Add your mozzarella. Fold the dough in half. With a pizza cutter or knife, slice about 8-10 strips. Using both hands, take each strip by its end and give it a gentle twist.
Place your twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Melt your 1/2 stick butter, parmesan and garlic. Lightly brush the tops of the twists.
Bake for 23-25 minutes until golden brown. After you remove from the oven, brush them again, more generously this time.
Enjoy and happy eating!
