Game Day Pretzels
This is a perfect appetizer for game day or delicious snack for the family. Whatever the occasion, it’s sure to be a hit! Enjoy!
Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time: 10-13 Minutes
Ingredients:
1 and 1/2 cups warm water
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tsp active dry yeast
3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1-2 large egg, beaten
Coarse salt to sprinkle
Cinnamon & sugar combo (optional)
Directions:
Mix warm water, salt, sugar and yeast together in a bowl. Slowly add the flour and mix well until it's not sticky. Turn your dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead your dough for about 5 minutes until it forms a smooth ball. Using a knife or dough cutter, divide your dough into 6 or 8 pieces. One by one, roll out each dough into a long dough string about 16". Make a U shape with your dough string, take both ends and twist twice, leaving enough space in the ends. Pull the top of the knot towards you folding the dough over itself.
Line a baking dish with parchment paper. Preheat oven to 425. Boil 6 cups of water and 1/2 cup of baking soda. Submerge each pretzel into the baking soda water for about 15 seconds each and place on the baking dish. Take your eggs and whisk them in a shallow bowl and dunk each pretzel. Make sure the entire surface has been covered. Place back on the baking dish. Sprinkle half of the pretzels with coarse salt or all if you desire.
Bake for 10 mins and then broil for 3 minutes to brown the top. If you'd like to make cinnamon sugar pretzels, butter the tops of the pretzels and swirl them into a bowl with a cinnamon sugar combo. Cool for a few minutes and serve warm!
Enjoy and happy eating!
