Did somebody say SCONES?! Who wouldn’t love to devour these scrumptious treats? Especially with some chantilly cream and your favorite fruit preserve! Treat your family and friends to this elegant and delicious recipe!

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Freeze Time: 15 minutes
Bake Time: 15-16 minutes

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 stick of unsalted butter (place in the freezer 15 minutes before preparing ingredients)

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/2 cup heavy whipping cream + 1 tablespoon for brushing

2 tablespoons sugar in the raw (optional for topping)

Directions:

In a large bowl, combine flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, and cold butter (cubed). Take a fork or pastry cutter and integrate the butter into the dry ingredients. You should get a crumbly consistency.

In a separate bowl, combine heavy cream, vanilla and egg. Whip together.

Combine your wet ingredients with your dry ingredients until fully incorporated. The dough should be a little crumbly.

Turn your dough onto a clean surface. Form it into a ball and press down with your hands to form a flat circle about 6-7 inches in diameter.

With a sharp knife, cut your dough into 8 triangles.

Place your triangles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in the freezer for 15 minutes. At this time, preheat your oven to 400 degrees.

After 15 minutes, remove the scones from the freezer and brush them with heavy whipping cream.

At this point, you can sprinkle the tops with sugar in the raw or leave as is.

Turn the temperature down to 375 degrees and bake for 15-16 minutes. You should see the sides getting a darker brown color.

Let it cool for 10 minutes before consuming!

Optional:

In lieu of the sugar in the raw topping, you can opt for a vanilla glaze. This can be poured on top of the scones after cooling for 10 minutes and let the glaze settle for another 10 minutes.

Just combine the following ingredients in a bowl and gently pour on top of the scones after bake:

1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 tablespoon milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Happy eating!
